Morgana Top - My Pocket Pick You May Want To Try

There is no question that tanks are huge in the top lane in 2021 and because of the mythic items and how useful a good tank can be, I do not think this will change. But playing tanks can get boring fast. I mean…how many champions can you devour with Cho’Gath and how many Chemtank activations can you do until you get bored to death?

Because I was bored, I once took a look at the champions I used to play a few years ago. And I found my very first main, Morgana. Back then, I was mainly playing support as I was learning the game.

Then, as I learned to play more, I moved to mid lane. And I was very successful with Morgana.

So why not top?

In a meta where you can play literally anything anywhere, why not Morgana top?

Does Morgana Top Work?

Yes she does.

For starters, when you lock her in, nobody really expects her to be top. This is a huge advantage, especially when locked in early as the opposing team might get ready for Morgana support. Even if a support is locked in before, a clear one, like Leona, they will still think Morgana is mid.

Then, if you are a little bit careful and you learn how to farm with her early, Morgana becomes a pushing machine. Basically, you want to get Lost Chapter as soon as possible and then keep pushing. Help your jungler to invade and make sure you roam whenever you can to the mid lane for some pressure.

It is as simple as that. And when you reach level 6, if you poke enough before, you can even get a kill against players that do not expect it. However, it is a good idea to try this more after you get Liandry’s Anguish for the more sustainable poke. Until then, it is better to focus on farming.

• A lot of late game damage with Liandry’s Anguish, Demonic Embrace, and more damage items
• The Black Shield (Self-explanatory)
• Great CC and utility
• Works well against fighters, bruisers, and tanks
• Great roaming potential
• Surprising heal thanks to the passive

Disadvantages Of Morgana Top

• Bad when behind (although very effective at clearing waves)
• Harder to farm until Liandry’s Anguish buy
• Hard to get solo kills because Morgana relies on sustained damage
• Your team might dodge the match or flame you (both if you do great and if you do bad)
• The playstyle is quite different than what you might be used to while playing top

Should You Play Morgana Top?

Why the hell not? Try it in some Flex games and get used to her. You will quickly figure out that there are some situations in which Morgana top can be a wonderful addition to your arsenal.
